SAN JOSE, Calif., March 19, 2019 -- Edgeworx Inc. today announced that Farah Papaioannou, the companys co-founder and president, was appointed to the Eclipse Foundation board of directors. Papaioannou will be presenting Eclipse Foundation on March 27 at 8 a.m. Pacific Time.

During the session, Papaioannou will explore the business drivers, technological changes and global trends that are making edge computing one of the mega trends of the next decade. She will discuss the challenges that make edge computing unique, contrast the relationship to the cloud, and close with real-world use cases from key industries, showing how edge computing generates immediate business opportunities and benefits.

'I am honored to be part of the Eclipse Foundation board of directors. I truly believe that Eclipse can and should become synonymous with the edge. I’m looking forward to connecting with the Eclipse Foundation community and showing that building for the edge can be as easy as building for the cloud,' said Papaioannou. 'We understand the most critical challenges that users are faced when trying to deploy and manage secure applications at the edge, and believe it can be done without reinventing existing cloud applications.'

About Edgeworx

Edgeworx is an edge computing startup based in Silicon Valley. The technology, ioFog, which is open-sourced under the Eclipse foundation, turns any device into a software platform. Edgeworx provides an open environment with microservices mimicking the cloud to allow revenue-generating applications such as analytics and AI/ML to be easily deployed at the edge with a single touch. A dynamic peer-to-peer mesh network enables users to run applications where the data is generated, without the round trip to the cloud, avoiding costly bandwidth and latency. Edgeworx turns the edge from a vulnerable attack surface into a secure defense surface, whereby having more edge devices actually strengthens security.
